This Albatros is painted in the markings of D.Va D5397/17, flown during December 1917-January 1918 by Lt.Hans Joachim Theodor Gottlieb von Hippel of Jasta 5. A long-standing resident with the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, this replica aircraft now resides with the Military Aviation Museum at Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was intended to restore the aircraft to airworthy condition, but this now seems doubtful as the Museum’s future is uncertain. |
