| The 777 entered service in 1995, with United Airlines. Therefore, the 'accident' in the photo's description could not have occurred. There are only three incidents, none of which resulted in any hull loss damage, linked to the 777. One, G-VIIK in service for British Airways, is the only incident which resulted in a fatality. The accident occured 09/05/01 at Denver Intl (DIA) during refueling, in which the fueler inattentively lowered his platform while parked at a cantankerous angle in relation to the aircraft's fuel port, snapping the hose loose, spraying fuel everywhere, igniting the mist.... and you can imagine what happened to him.
It may be a simple mistake or misinformation as no accidents were recorded on June 11, 1988, according to the Aviation Safety Database. |
