I've been watching the Turner Classic Movie channel recently and discovered that N101CS was Jacque Cousteau's PBY-5A during the time that his 1970's TV programs were created. N102CS, a 1975 Hughes 269C helicopter was also featured in those programs along with his ship, Calypso. Both aircraft were also identified by the Calypso name. Cousteau's son Philippe died in a crash of the PBY in Portugal at the age of 38 on June 28, 1979. The appearance of 19 Cousteau programs celebrated his 100th birthday a few days ago. |
