| N19164 was a major part of my childhood from 1956 until it sold in 2000. My dad was in a partnership, the aircraft was based at Akron Ohio Muni. It was ground looped on an X-C at Springfield OH, the wing hit the ground on the loop and cracked the spar. There happended to be another F-24 that had done the same thing to the other wing and bent up the fusealage. So they took the good wing off the bad F-24 and flew home. When they stripped the new wing to recover, they found wet rot. So they went back and got the cracked spar wing and said. Le't put it in Frank's garage, it'll save hangar rent, and we'll have her reflying in 6 monts. I played in that bird for the next 20 years. Hopefully someday she'll fly again.
