Accident occurred Monday, November 13, 2006 in Paulden, AZ
Aircraft: Kolb MK III, registration: N2031S
Injuries: 2 Fatal.
This is preliminary information, subject to change, and may contain errors. Any errors in this report will be corrected when the final report has been completed.
On November 13, 2006, about 0920 mountain standard time, an experimental Light Sport kit-built Kolb MK III, N2031S, impacted terrain in a nose-down attitude under unknown circumstances about a 1/2 mile west of Pilots Rest Airport (AZ57), Paulden, Arizona. The airplane was operated by the owner under the provisions of 14 CFR Part 91 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. The student pilot/owner and the private pilot passenger were fatally injured. The airplane was destroyed. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the local area flight, and no flight plan had been filed.
Detailed examinations of the airframe and engine are planned following recovery of the wreckage.
