My Grandfather, Oscar Zoss, owned that plane during my entire childhood. He would fly over family picnics and cut the motor and yell,"Hellooo Philly!!" out the window! He only took me up once and swore me to secrecy not to tell my mother! The big flight, I know now, was a few touch and gos at what barely resembled an airport in Ansonia in the early 70's. Then back to the shack of a clubhouse with a the other WWII Vets who welcomed me at 8 to sit with them, because I was one of them now. A pilot! It's 30 yrs later and I just passed the written, the check ride is next and I've done it. I hope you get half the enjoyment out of that plane that it's given to us. If you ever want to sell it, there's an interested pilot in Waterbury who's already given it a test flight! Take care, Phil Maiorano III | |
