Sabreliner N265SC is one of several series produced by North American Aviation that were commercially finished and marketed by Remmert Werner. In 1962, North American Aviation was a military aircraft manufacturer with no business jet finishing or marketing experience, so NAA contracted with Remmert Werner to provide multiple contracts for Series 40 Sabreliners in green zinc chromate to Remmert Werner for commercial finishing and marketing. This followed production of Sabreliner NA-271, a T39A Sabreliner for FAA Type Certification-Commercial. Remmert Werner finished 35 NA-282, SerNo 1/35, followed by 14 NA-290 36/49, 16 NA-292 50/65, 33 NA-293 66/98, 25 NA-297 99/133 of which N265SC resides as SerNo 117. Remmert Werner also completed two contracts of 37 total Series 60 Sabreliners. As North American Aviation secured the Type Certificate, all production was considered to be by NAA.

The majority of the Sabreliner designs were built for USAF and BuAer (Navy) military contracts under multiple NA design numbers, starting with NA-265 for the USAF.
