61-0680 was the first T-39A that I was assigned as Crew Chief. The aircraft was assigned to HQUSAFE, Wiesbaden AB, Germany. I crewed it from June '66 to mid "67. It was sent stateside to receive the 7 passenger mod. I was told that it had been selected to go to SEA and never saw it again. It was a great old bird. We were flying Crew Chiefs yet we were not afforded any of the "perks" of flying status. We did not get "crew rest" or limits to our flying time. We would fly, fix the aircraft and have it ready for the next mission. Had the pilot/copilot not brought us food, there were time we would have done without after flying/working for 18-24 hours. What did we know?
I do have a picture of the aircraft some where; I"ll post it when I find it.
