This aircraft was built as C-47A 42-100828 and delivered to the USAAF on 12/18/43. It was assigned to the U.S. 8th Air Force for operations in the European theater on 3/6/44. After WWII, on 1 Jan 1948, the aircraft was placed in storage at Erding, West Germany. Under the Military Assistance Program, the plane went to Norway on 11/20/50 as “100828” and coded “T-AU” with the Royal Norwegian Air Force, serving with No. 335 Sqdn. The code was later changed to “BW-C.” On 9/20/56 the plane was passed to the Royal Danish Air Force and became “K-685.” This C-47A took part in the film, “A Bridge Too Far,” in fictitious markings, playing three different aircraft. In October 1982 it was one of three ex-Danish AIr Force C-47s sold to Valiant Air Command in Florida, and it was registered as N3240A. |
