This aircraft was originally USAAF C-47A 42-92924, c/n 12779. Was transferred to the Navy, then rebuilt as R4D-8 17175 with new c/n 43301

This beautiful aircraft was destroyed during Hurricane Irma. It had been engineless and stored at the LaBelle Florida Airport for several years. During the hurricane it was flipped over and was a total loss. A very sad end for this proud warbird. I will miss seeing her.
