| My Dad bought this A/C in 1965 after it had been wrecked by a shortcutting boob in CT. In 1974 I took over the preject, towed it to MN, finished, covered and flew it in 1975. Painted white with a blue slash "Ol Bugsmasher" carted me around MN, ND, SD, WI and Iowa until 1983 when my 12 year old son and I flew it to (and all around) New England. In 1988 I sold it to a gent from MD and have missed it ever since. Best flying and handling Piper I ever flew. Took over 85 people for rides in the wide back seat. Landed on dirt, grass, ice, snow, roads, cornfields (mowed)and to many hard strips. Not an airplane for someone that wants to go high or fast - over 400 hours on auto gas, cruised happily at 67 mph. Got it up to 11,000 feet one hot day but couldn't read the highway signs from there. Had more fun with it than a normal person should. Still have parts, books, manuals and tools - just in case she ever comes back. |
