This Howard was built as a USN NH-1 instrument trainer, Bu. No. 29385, manufacturer's serial 710 (the 10th NH-1 built). Nameplate date 2/18/43.
Originally the NH-1 had 122 gal. fuel, but in the late 50's the original 18 gal. rear tank was replaced by a 33 gal. tank from a GH-2, bringing the capacity up to 137 gal.
With two people on board, this airplane will beat a T-6 from standing start to 10,000 feet.
