| I was stationed at Goodfellow AFB, TX, in 1984 and taking civil aviation flying lessons there (when they had an aero club). I was minding the hangar Sunday morning 7 AUG, when a call came in for the club manager. N5259F had crashed after take off from El Paso killing two on impact and critically injuring the other two. The third soul died shortly after and the fourth had server, life altering injuries. I believe I was the last person to have flown that aircraft before the two couples had rented it for the weekend to go to El Paso. It was a shock for us all to say the least. My instructor pilot was Father Farruggio (an Air Force Chaplain), and he was there to take the details that Sunday. I would be interested to know where 59F is now and what "certification action" was taken in 2005 as listed in Airport-Data.com. God bless the four souls on board 59F. |
