I have the actual KXAS Action News Bell Jet Ranger III photo taken back in 1978. It was owned then by Pumpkin Air out of Addison and the N# was then N1068G. Flown by the late Chuck Shelton. Not sure where this was taken. | |

This is the same registration number of the first television helicopter. It was the "World's Only Color Jet Telecopter" at KTLA, Los Angeles. Because of the weight of the equipment in the 1970's, it was restricted and couldn't carry a full load of fuel. It was flown by the late Larry Scheer who held the title of pilot-reporter. Eventually, the helicopter was sold to KNBC who hired Francis Gary Powers to fly it. The rest, everyone knows. |
