 On Sunday, 3 February 2008 Sammy Mason first-soloed this glider N6230L after being towed aloft from Santa Paula Airport, California SZP on his 14th birthday. The earliest date a glider solo may be performed under FAA regulations in the United States is at age 14.

Age 16 is the earliest date to perform first solo in a powered aircraft, and we expect Sammy will achieve that feat as well. Congratulations to Sammy and pilot parents Pete and Rowena Mason.
