I am the current owner of N714LY. I have been unable to contact Mr. Browning in an effort to register this aircraft in my name, and have in fact been told he is deceased. This aircraft is currently a fuselage on the gear with a set of wings, with all instruments and other components removed. She is undamaged and absolutely restorable, but currently has no documentation or logbooks. I am intereseted in any information, pictures, or comments about this aircraft, which I believe accumulated many hours as a trainer in the NAS Norfolk area.

Not much to add, but I soloed in this aircraft in July, 1987, Navy Flying Club, Gitmo, Cuba while I was on active duty.
Lots of fond memories, albeit not long enough.
Handled very well, never had to cancel any flights due to mechanical reasons.

I'm sorry to hear Bill Browning has passed. I was a mechanic for the GTMO flying club in the early 90's. This A/C sat neglected and the engine was corroded badly (fins rusted right off). The club president was a nerd and lost the log books. The airframe had about 2800 hours on it. The tach time didn't agree but the tach had been replaced. It suffered a landing accident at GTMO once also. There was a 337 on file for the repair.

I soloed in this aircraft in 1977 at Tallahassee, FL where it was owned by the local flight school. It was new or very new at the time. Al Ingle was my instructor.

I also soloed in this a/c circa 1981 at Tallahassee Municipal. My instructors name was Carlos. I had a rather hard landing too and I see somone at Gitmo finished it off later, lol.

My first private pilot lesson was in 714ly 1/22/78, and flew several hours in this aircraft during my pilot training. Owner then was Trans Air Aviation Tallahassee Florida, Warren White owner. My instructors were James Lessner, and Dale Saurs. I have no photos but remember the sporty red white and blue paint.
