Loved this plane. I bought it from my uncle (he have it for 10 or 20 yrs and flew very little) I owned it for a couple of years in the 80's. We flew from Cincinnati, oh area to ORD, CLE, Toledo, Pigeon Forge, Pittsburgh and several times to east St. Louis. Note to any 175 owners we had problems with smoke in the cockpit. Not to worry. This happened at certain speeds and angles. No one could figure it out. Finally we did. it was to tube that the heat into the cabin on the pass. side. On the ground it looks fine. In the air the tube would blow over just enough to touch the manifold and create caustic smoke. EASY to fix but scary to fly with. I redid the interior around 1983 or so. I hope someone put some real radios in it. Good luck to the guy in Alaska that has it now. |
