This aircraft was built as C-47A 42-92847, delivered to USAAF on 3/6/44 and assigned to the 8th AF in the European theater on 4/26/44. on 4/27/44 it was transferred to the 9th AF and flew on D-Day as well as many other operations during the war. It returned to the USA on 8/4/45 and two months later went to the Reconstruction Finance Corp. In 1946 it was registered N88874 and operated by United Gas Corp. It changed hands several times over the years and operated in many capacities prior to its purchase by its present owner. |
