December 1979 , VP LMB arrive in Antigua. Given as a gift to the MONTSERRAT governement , it was brend new with only ferry time from the isle of wight UK. As they where no airline in MNI , LIAT was the choice to operate VP LMB . Operated with one pilot and 16 pax , i was lucky to be the first Captain rated on this airplane . Later three other captain got their type rating , including our BN fleet captain , Capt ELIOTT FRANCIS (from ST Lucia ) As a french man from Paris , i flought with a French CPL/IFR converted to a ANTIGUA licence by the local CAA. I got the type rating , later; on my french CPL. VP LMB was on scheduled flights from ANU to MNI with 4 to 6 daily return flights . with a mid day southbound flight ANU/ PTP/ DOM as LI 333 and LI 355 on northbound . I used to fly those sectors througt french airspace , and the french AIR GUADELOUPE Pilots where very surprised to ear a LIAT flight in french with the tipical PARIS accent !!! There (in PTP) i finally met the Air guadeloupe (OG) chief pilot , and he hired me 2 years later as a TWIN OTTER f.o. Other Captain where : Cecil MENARD PAUL HERITAGE ELIOTT FRANCIS HAD A VERY GOOD TIME IN ANU , Captain Jean pierre LE COQ Retired now in MOUGINS -FRANCE |
