Originally built by Gloster as a Meteor F.8 WK800 for the RAF. Struck off charge in 1960, it was converted to a Meteor U.16. Transferred to the Royal Australian Air Force in 1960 as A77-876, and converted by Fairey Aviation, NSW to U.21 and used as a pilotless target and later as a drone. Returned to the RAF as WK800 and served from July 1969 to October 2004, contracted to Flight Refuelling, converted to Meteor U.16 and last flown October 11th 2004. Now preserved and exhibited in the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection at Old Sarum. |
