The single seat Aeronautical Corporation of America (Aeronca) C-2 light monoplane was built in two versions, the C-2 and the C-2 Deluxe. The C-2 first flew in 1928 with a 26 horsepower Aeronca-designed E-107A two cylinder opposed air-cooled engine. The C-2 Deluxe model had an Aeronca-designed E-113A 36 horsepower two cylinder opposed air-cooled engine.

The engine in X626N is unknown between the two possibilities of Aeronca's own designs, and the X626N marking on the tail area reflects the time contemporary United States of America aircraft registration/marking system original to this restored aircraft.

This historic aircraft represents the first truly light aircraft model to be manufactured in quantity, and was produced for several years. The high wing is braced with wires and has two spruce spars with fabric covering. The fuselage is fabric-covered steel tube welded structure of triangular cross-section.

This C-2 design led to the similar Aeronca C-3 design of 1934, which was a two place side by side seating light aircraft with the Aeronca E-113C 40 horsepower engine.

X626N was photographed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. on 12 July 1979.
