Hi All,

I am planning on adding a new video section. But I never done any video before, so I need to ask a few questions to those who did, especially who have uploaded to big sites such as Youtube or Google Video.

* What kind of format do you use? Upload whatever it is records and let the server handle it or edit/convert to certain format (I think it should be FLV) before uploading?

* Have you ever uploaded an HD video?

* Any requirement/suggestion/thoughts?

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,
I don't really know the technical side of this stuff but..

I have up-loaded to You Tube and FB. I use what ever the camera records it in. .MOV or MP4. My little Sony cam has HD MP4 capability.

I let the host site determine what to do with them.

Here's my humble video offerings...

Hi Zane,

Because of the wide selection of video codec, it would be much harder than I think to put up a video section. All uploaded videos must be converted to a uniformed format (.FLV) to show on the website.

Do you know how big are your video files? I noticed your "Warbird Radio Fat Albert RIde Navy Fort Worth 2011" video supports 1080p!

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,
I think the finished Fat Albert video is a 475MB .wmv file. It is in that format after running the MP4 files out of my camera and through the Windows Movie Maker software to edit and ad captions etc.

If I download it back from You Tube it d/l as a 145 MB MP4 file.

So handling videos requires a lot of bandwidth and storage. Sad

As I know Youtube was near bankrupt because of their extreme high usage of bandwidth and storage. Lucky for them Google came for rescue.
