Ken, I have confirmed the Server Error I noted above is caused by an apostrophe in the caption that fails to upload the photo and data ONLY on a RE-EDIT of an older photo. New uploads with an apostrophe in the caption upload OK for me. Strange?

Can you provide the info you entered while you edit the photo? I checked the code and everything looks fine. Apostrophes in photographer name and photo description are properly handled.

Zane, are you using same image file or different ones? Does the error happen right after you click "upload" or after a while?

Ken,

It has happened on different files. Single files or multiple. I have tried from an external HD and from the desktop. I've tried edited files and unedited files. It happens immediately after I hit the Upload Photos button. The screen looks like my screen capture for 5-6 seconds ans the the file name and error notice disappear.

But only on this machine....I have tried it on two other machines and all is ok...so I'm guessing it's a local problem...but I can't imagine what it is...

It might be caused by the flash software on that computer. The upload tool is based on flash, javascript and HTML. Try update related software (Adboe Flash Player). Or you might want to try a different browser. Just a wild guess but worth a shot.

Torsten,

My re-edit caption used and needed the apostrophe as a possessive, and quotation marks would not been grammatical. Apparently Ken has fixed the server error message because of your astute analysis. Thanks!

I'm not sure if you had a chance to try my suggestion, but if my educated guess based on the symptoms was correct, entering two consecutive single quotes would have resulted in one single quote being entered into the database and no error message being generated.

It's a moot point now since the problem has been fixed.

Thank you Torsten,

This site is blessed with more skilled computer language people and smarts than I will ever truly understand. The glitch solutions are waaay beyond me, but certainly appreciated.

Us older pilots used to say "Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill every time", but I am rethinking that.

Here is a link to a Wikiepedia entry on the underlying problem known as SQL code injection:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQL_injection#Incorrectly_filtered_escape_characters

I wouldn't post this if the problem hadn't already been fixed.
