Hi Airport-Data Team

I was just wondering whether you can add "sort by views" in the sort pull-down in the "aircrfat Photos" section in the Member Section? That would be fab!

Cheers

I'm in favour of this - useful to have some idea of the interest level in one's own images.

However, I hope this does not progress to

Top 5 of the Last 24 Hours
Photographers' Choice
Etc.

I find these so-called features to be unecessarily devisive and plug the so called 'more succesful'. I would hope that we can leave out such competition but perhaps not all would agree.

Malcolm.

Just tried the new sort function, views for my images and this one came out top with 4035

http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/303570.html

Agusta A109 N2NR which crashed in the Mourne Mountains, Northern Ireland, 23/10/10 killing the three people on board. The same image was also used by BBC news for a small fee.

Nice job Ken. Works fine when you move page 1 to 2 etc at the top location, but reverts to last added at the bottom selector.

Peter.

Ken.

One thing that this innovation has revealed to me is that I have failed to identify the location of some of my images in the appropriate field.
Often this was due to the lack of an internationally recognised identifier or that the size of the field does not allow the full name of the location to be entered.
You were previously reluctant to adopt the Bones Aviation listings for the UK's smaller airfields but I felt compelled to use it due to the field size which is limited to 10 letters, so that, for example, Pocklington will not fit and the "Bones" equivalent, X3PK will but is not recognised.
Also, what does one enter for an image taken in a museum not located at an airfield? "Off Airport - Manchester" would be my choice but again the field size is too small.
The value in settling this would be the ability identify all photos taken at a given location.
May we discuss?

Malcolm.

Let me have a look first, to see if I can find a way around this.

In the member section aircraft photos the page number <href ...>'s on the top of the screen include the ?sortby= tag, but the ones page numbers on the bottom do not.

Hi Malcolm

I also use the Bones Aviation listings for the UK's smaller airfields and think it would be easy to adopt it here.

with "Off Airport" locations, I enter NONE and add the location in the description box

cheers

Chris

Hello Chris.

I had previously raised with Ken the question of using "Bones" as it would be particularly useful to we who reside in the UK and would also reduce the number of times we have to use a name or None as you suggest.

.... for anyone who may be interested.

Cheers,

Malcolm.

I decided to see which one of mine had the most views and it was a really obscure shot with only part of the airplane visible, a C-130 from my Army days:

http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/70-1273.html
3569 views!

I think I know why it got so many. I was contacted a couple years ago by someone in the Polish Air Force letting me know they now have that bird and it is active with them. Perhaps all those Polish Air Force guys have been looking to see what their old bird used to look like!
