Grumman Mallard VH-CQA was destroyed with the loss of two lives when it crashed into the Swan River in Perth Western Australia on Jan 26, 2017, in front of a large crowd gathered for an airshow and fireworks display to celebrate Australia's national day. The cause has yet to be established, but opinion in the aviation community suggests it was a low level base/final stall/spin with insufficient height to recover. Temperature on the day was about 40 deg Celsius (104 deg F.)

Low altitude stall/spin accidents are totally preventable....dang that's sad.

When I see this pictures I remember Stockholm 1993. Half a miljon of us were out following the so called Water festival. In the afternoon everyone expected to see the airshow with the new fighter aircraft JAS39 Gripen. Suddenly the aircraft started to wobble and a few seconds later it crashed in the middle of the town just in front of all these people. Miraculously no one died.
