For a well known international site, I am surprised at the extremely low activity on these forums. Apart from additions to the photo gallery, there appears to be very little discussion between aviation enthusiasts. I check the home page daily, and the same topic can be on top of the list for days or even weeks, with just a few extra viewings. I also note that the last post in the Announcements forum was 4 years ago.

I am a member of a forum where I can read the latest post, get up to make a coffee, and there are 4 to 6 new posts on my return. It is a dedicated recreational aviation site with dozens of discussions running concurrently. It has a sister site for all other topics. As an indication, here is a small clip of the Last Post column showing post timings.

Just a personal observation.

Peter.

I noticed it too.
Forum posts are almost stagnant. Guess everybody on social media chatting.?

Website stats look OK? Lots of lookers, but not many contributors....

Maybe a fresh coat of paint required ????

Yes John, it appears that forums all over have a similar problem, plenty of lurkers, few contributors.

The activity stats snapshot on my other flying forum give some indication:
Total: 108 (members: 18, guests: 65, robots: 25) .

Peter.

I think that it is not so bad because that will prevent non-aviation users from registering here. I found your site 1 or 2 years ago but I have registered just now. And I am working at the aviation company. This site turns to be a super-special place to get information from the aviators. Very Happy
But if you worry I see a good way out - make social accounts for the site and connect them.

For those who might be interested, the website I refer above to is recreationalfying.com. It is an Australian based website but has sections for UK/Europe, US/Canada, Africa/Other Countries, in addition to Australia/New Zealand. I joined the site in May 2011 and have made over 2000 posts. My user name is the same over there, red750.

Here is a link to the Forums index : https://www.recreationalflying.com/forums/

You are welcome to take a look. Check out a couple of the forums which interest you. Registration is free, if you choose to do so.

The forum on this page has always been slow. At least in the past ten years that I have been around the site.

I seem to remember Ken asking what could be done to increase the forum traffic one time even...

It is rather odd.

Viewing stats for forum posts would be a lot lower if the date of the most recent post was displayed on the home page. Many 'hits' result in people returning to see if anything has been added since they last viewed it.
