I've noticed a few things lately on the site.

The maps are no longer working for the Airport Finder

The Workshop "Upload Photos" button requires you to OK running Flash
( we all know Flash is about to die on the web....maybe this should be attended to before it becomes unusable? )

I am regularly seeing "NOT SECURE" on my Chrome browser address bar....I notice there is no http or https in the address.

Of course the updating from the FAA database has not worked in a long time...it just seems that @ 30% of what I upload needs a new aircraft profile created....time consuming and aggravating for sure.

Just wondering if Ken was still actively managing the site?

I sure would hate for 10+ years of uploading and the vast info included in this site to go tits up because of a lack of maintenance.

Just a few things that worry me.

FYI

Z

Some months ago I sent an email re similar issues to Ken at his Canada address, no response. This site commenced in 2005, I joined in first few months of the site start. He was very helpful then to me on several occasions. Also, the first page lead aircraft of upper left used to be changed every two weeks or so-now, Ronald Barker's aircraft photo of N750XL has been there since when? 2014?

I take a month and a half off and come back to this, WOW. It really is a shame Ken hasn't been keeping up or appointed someone to keep the site up. It looks like we were hacked in the area of the tickets, where somebody added several thousand false tickets, gonna take awhile to delete them all, while all the time looking for real tickets.

Google has changed their API for maps. So changes on the server software have to be made to get that working again.

There's a strong push by tech titans to get everybody on https and stop using http. HTTPs requires getting an SSL certificate every two years. And they generally are not free.

Ken said his update process was creating too many duplicate profiles. I don't think there's been an FAA aircraft registration database pull for many years. So when you see a new aircraft you have to make a profile. Argh.

The worst odd thing that happened was the down time between 19-Dec-2018 and 1-Jan-2019.

I'm happy that the site is back up again.

I am currently logged in on the Men's Shed PC. For the past couple of weeks, on my laptop at home, when I try to access this site, I get a 403 Forbidden error. Anyone have any suggestions why this may be? My browser is Chrome, but get the same on Firefox.
