Malcolm,
I am gratified that your adding the suggested dash solved your problem.
As to a make/model description-the A-D site manager and administrator does ask for a description and for very good reason, apparently not apparent to all new members. Many site visitors will click on a random aircraft photo of interest shown in pairs on A-D's Home Page. A new pair comes up each time the Home Page is newly accessed. I'll bet that more viewers will click on and continue to view described aircraft photos than just ones with only a serial or military number, or slash mark which is not a description of the aircraft. Descriptions add value to your photo, and also tell the viewer you know what you have photographed. (We do get requests in this Forum to identify an aircraft in a photo).
Identifying your aircraft photo as to make and model allows others to further pursue their interest. Most viewers are not familiar with military serial numbers or marking schemes, which you must admit are NOT uniform across countries, or perhaps even across different military services within a country. It never hurts to be a team player here. A-D is a world aircraft and airport photo site, not a specious collection of numbers. A further issue is garbage in-garbage out-our USA FAA will publish the aircraft description a new owner supplies, which can be either wrong or incomplete. So, errors are promulgated and that is one reason the site allows data to be corrected by a knowledgeable viewer.
And, I am certainly not irritated with you-just trying to be helpful, as I apparently was in solving a problem you gave up on-to use your own terminology. _________________ PP ASEL |
