I have a CRJ aircraft which was test flown under a serial number 7056 registration C-FMMX but is now operating under a different serial number 7439 registration D-ACHG. Can someone tell me why the serial number has changed.

Actually the serials do not change. The registrations change..
C-FMMX like C-FMMW, C-FMMY (and probably others) are test registrys owned by Bombardier, who manufactures the CRJs.
After the CRJ is sold the oem's reg (C-FMMX) is removed and the new customers/country registration is applied. C-FMMX is then re-used for the next CRJ off the assembly line that is ready for test flight.

If you have photos of C-FMMX it may not be msn 7056. It may be any of the following;

7026 CL-600-2B19 to> C-FMMX N924CA
7056 CL-600-2B19 to> C-FMMX N409SW
7086 CL-600-2B19 to> C-FMMX D-ACLR C-FLHQ
7101 CL-600-2B19 to> C-FMMX N412SW
7116 CL-600-2B19 to> C-FMMX N959CA

There are more...

If you do not know the actual date your photo (or other identifying data) of C-FMMX was taken, it my be hard matching it up to its current registry or msn (or even know which serial number that particular C-FMMX is!)

Registration mks can change several times during an airframe's life. Serial numbers usually do not, unless your talking rebuilds and transfer of data-plates. (P-51 mustangs being a real good example)

BTW, my notes show D-ACHG as msn 7439

7439 CL-600-2B19 to> C-FMMX D-ACHG

Regards,

John

I deleted about 20 new users 30 min ago! This happen within the last 30 min.
Each day I am removing about 20-30 spam entries. This is getting out of hand.

As you can see from the above post by wendell89ers...
It is getting difficult to locate the spam.
wendell89ers is a spammer. He puts his link in the sig (I removed it...), but posts regarding aircraft to the wrong thread.
Not sure what to do as I am able to delete posts... but should I delete all posts I think are spam?

Bluedharma

One word, YES... remove all posts that you deem SPAM!

wendell89ers, was getting cute trying to test the forum by "camouflaging" his first post using the thread title and content.

Impelemting a registration verification system would be great, but time consuming code and config would be required to implement,
unless airport-data's web hosting service has any "canned" app that could be turned on.

Keep up the good work, it's NOT thankless...

John

It seems that these spam attacks, in the past, have been cyclic. More active for a month or two, and then relatively calm.

Mlands87,
This was in regards to SPAM postings on this website in January.
One of the great things about airport-data.com is that postings regarding aviation are quickly indexed by google/yahoo and other search engines. It appears that Spammers learned that this was the case and would post advertisements to items that were not aviation related.
