Related to my earlier post, I just found a tribute page to Bruce Wayne "KFI in the Sky"

Thank you for the good link. I used to listen to Bruce Wayne's traffic reports daily-he did it all-flying the plane while reporting traffic with a great air voice. He flew a strut-less cantilever wing Cessna Cardinal with good visibility. On days it was down for maintenance, he drove the LA freeways and reported from the surface.

An LA TV station had a lady reporter in a helicopter with TV camera on her and the traffic congestion with a pilot just for the flying. Bruce's loss was keenly felt by many, as he had a great audience. He even reported fires and civil disturbances to the authorities. He based out of Hawthorne HHR near LAX.

Thanks for the kind words. Actually, Bruce Wayne was based at Fullerton. In 1989, city officials named a hangar complex in his honor. See the L.A. Times story at this link:

The NTSB blamed the pilot for the accident and listed alcohol impairment as a contributing factor.

That finding may be in dispute. Click below for letter that ran in L.A. Times 11/01/87:

That said, I'm not defending Bruce Wayne, simply reliving the "glory days" when Bruce was the undisputed king of L.A. traffic reporters and the most famous pilot to fly out of "Maynard Farmer Airport," I mean, Fullerton.
