I'd like to add a photo of Chicago Meigs KCGX (closed), but it's not in the database, how do you go about adding it to the airports database? Thanks.

The airport is closed and demolished. So it doesn't make sense to add it back to the site.

Thanks,

Ken

Yes, and Chicago did that illegally! Chicago politics as usual. It was a great airport for getting downtown

I thought since it is closed and demolished, pictures of it would be more, not less, valuable. Confused

Your photo would be appropriate and valuable to the Freeman's Fields website, which specializes in America's closed airfields, their history and documentation.

EAA's Sport Aviation magazine for November, 2010 has a regular OSHKOSH 356 column on polling members with this month's subject: Could Meigs Field Return?, prompted by Mayor Richard Daley's decision to not seek a seventh term as Mayor of Chicago. Member Joe LaMantia had this observation: "An interesting note, WGN-TV has a poll on the Meigs issue, and its running 62 percent in favor of rebuilding Meig! As of right now, I'm sticking with my original post and won't bet on landing at Meigs in my lifetime. Then again...maybe we'll luck out!"

His earlier post in same month said he was glad to log a landing there before the bulldozers showed up.

The Friends of Meigs group still exists as an organization, points out member Ried Jacobsen.
