Having flown into and out of the Gobi Desert airport of Dalanzadgad, (Ömnögovi, Mongolia) codes ZMDZ and DLZ, I can assure you that none of the 11 pictures taken by Bob Summermon and credited to that airport were actually taken there - or anywhere else in Mongolia. I think the airport code DLZ caused confusion between Dalanzadgad and Delaware County Ohio airports.

Looks to me like majority of Mr. Simmermon's photos are in the right place. KDLZ (DLZ) - Delaware County Airport, USA.

It is interesting that some of them are linked to Dalanzadgad instead.

Funny.

Being a Buckey ex-patriot, I can say they are all Delaware, OH! Especially when you consider Bob is in Ohio and most of his photos are in Ohio!

Something must be messed up with the airports! If you take a look at Sembach, a closed USAFE Air Base, there are hundreds of pictures assigned, which have never been taken there. The ICAO identifier EDAS Finsterwalde is also wrong! Sembach had ETAS in its days.

All these photo's appear NOT to have an airport code or location added when they were uploaded.

2804 pages with 12 photo's on each page. That is 33648 photo's not linked to a location Shocked Shocked

The Admin team also have a list of over 21000 images NOT linked to a profile.

Can I make a polite request to ALL members to look through their collections and correct any errors. This can easily be done in the member section by clicking on the Aircraft Photos link, then the edit link

Images without a profile will show the tail number in BOLD BLACK letters.
Images without a location will have the Airport where it's taken box empty.
If the image was taken OFF airport please enter NONE and add some info in the Short Description box

If each member corrected any errors within their own collections, it would greatly improve the data base on this site (and also reduce the huge workload for the admin team). Creating a new profile for an image only takes a few moments and all the info required is easily located on the internet. If for any reason you struggle to locate the required info to complete a profile, post a request in the Data Corrections forum and I am sure you will receive a rapid response.

Many of the regular contributor here also upload images to other aviation sites which have a much stricter upload criteria than we do here. So there are no excuses for getting it wrong here.

many thanks for your help

Chris

Thanks for your information! I´ve just corrected mine. How about making the field "Airport" as a mandatory field?

That suggestion would not work for air to air shots of aircraft, or for off-airfield aircraft crash shots, both of which categories I have uploaded on this site.

that's why I suggested

making the field "Airport" mandatory is a minor issue at the moment, the biggest problem is the 50,000 plus images that have no profile or airport code attached to them. I have edited over 100 images in the last two days where the airport code has not been entered but was put in the description box. 35 of those images were from one member Rolling Eyes

Hi Chris,

I tried checking my images. In my Members section photo list, ALL the tail numbers are in bold black, but most are linked to profiles. Without profiles you cannot find them using the Tail Number search on the Home page. I normally check this search before uploading, and if no profile is found, I endeavour to locate the required data and create a profile then upload to it.

I located one image, of a rare aircraft (see link below) which did not have a profile. When I clicked on edit in the Members section, the tail number in the Tail Number box was NOT in bold. Please advise.

Further to my previous post, the advice related to the bold text tail numbers on all my images, not the unlinked image. In fact, this aircraft is linked to a profile. I don't know why it didn't come up when I searched it last night, but it's there now.

Regards,
Peter
