The big radial-engined Howards were built by Benny Howard in Chicago until 1944. About 50 airworthy survive and this year on May 16-18 the Howard Club Foundation Annual Fly-In will be hosted at SZP in Southern California. SZP boasts a 1929 Howard DGA-11P, a 1943 Howard DGA-15P and a 1944 Howard DGA-15P as well as Bruce Dickenson's Experimental DGA-21 under construction with an R-1340 600 Hp radial that has been taxi tested. Early birds are expected on 15 May.

If you love the rumble sound of big radials, SZP is the place to be on these dates. I have also added this info to the Forum Post on 2008 California Airshows. This gathering will be another great photo opportunity, so bring your cameras. Fly or drive in-take the 126 Freeway to Santa Paula and exit at the marked airport exits from either direction to the airport just south of the freeway.
