Oxnard Airport OXR Gets Two Federal Funds Improvement Grants

Oxnard's airport OXR is the only air carrier passenger service airport in Ventura County, California. Announced are monetary grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation as part of a program to help regional airports expand and enhance services. Two grants were awarded to OXR-$948,500 will pay for the installation of an emergency generator and construction to rehabilitate the apron, runway and taxiway. $250,000 will pay for an environmental assessment needed for the purchase and improvements to about 19 acres of land, and relocation of the beginning of Runway 25.

Santa Barbara Municipal airport SBA in adjacent Santa Barbara County, also an air carrier service airport, will receive $1.3 million for construction of a new passenger terminal and San Luis County Regional airport SBP 3 miles south of San Luis Obispo will receive a $557,000 grant for terminal parking.
