KenJr,
Greetings.
Digital pictures often have something called "Exchangeable image file format" attached to the file. It records information about the camera, or device that took the image.
It also records the time, if the flash was used... ISO speed...and other settings.
The attached link has more information.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exif
In some cases, photos that have been scanned from a print, may or may not have any Exif data attached.
I have also found that if you alter photos with some programs, the Exif data may be removed.
In most Digital cameras made today, Exif data is recorded and saved with the photo.
Best Regards,

Bluedharma beat me on the questions.
The program will extract EXIF data from the photo if there's any, but ONLY in member section. This function has not been ported to other part of site yet, such as Quick Upload page for non-members. Guess I am too lazy.
Sometime the extract data is not correct, mainly because not all camera manufacturers adhere to the standard well, they often change here and there, and throw in some their own. Currently the function only support Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Fujifilm, Kodak, Sony, some Ricon, Sanyo and Epson. |
