Good Day and a happy new year to all who read this.

I have been scanning in slide pictures I took during a tour to California in 1988, among the visits was to the NAS Miramar Airshow. I have identified most aircraft but I'm struggling with a few.

I have added a section under my pictures (Calfornia 1988 - NAS Miramar Airshow) called unkown aircraft

http://www.airport-data.com/photographers/Steve+Staunton;1199/Unknown-Aircraft;9256;1.html

I would appreciate any help

Many thanks

Steve

I love this stuff!
I found the following:

The Stearman is now in Spain - Registered as N62AG. (55754 (c/n 75-4991) became N67472, then N778RL, then OO-LEF, then N62AG. Sold to owner in Spain Feb 2006)
http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/N62AG.html

The Staggerwing appears to be N4417S
http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/N4417S.html

This TBM is N28SF - BuNo. 85983

The other TBM is N4170A - BuNo.91453

The F/A-18 NK-306 is BuNo. 164634 /(cn 1051/C263)

The F-5 may be 73-1635 transfered to the US Navy as BuNo 731635

The F-14 is NJ-453 BuNo. 162591 now on display at Quonset Air Museum, Rhode Island.

Steve,

I'll take my quick shot at this, starting from the top of your linked photos.

1. Lockheed P-3 ORION
2. Bell AH-1 HUEY COBRA (Twin)
3. North American T-28B TROJAN (no tail hook, or rudder mod-which would be a T-28C)
4. McDonell Douglas AH-64 APACHE
5. Northrop F-5 TIGER
6. Cessna T-37 TWEETY BIRD
7. Lockheed U-2R DRAGON LADY
8. McDonell-Douglas (Boeing) F/A-18 HORNET
9. Grumman F-14 TOMCAT in flight
10. Grumman F-14 TOMCAT
11. Focker DREIDEKKER DR-1 replica
12. uncertain British Hawker ??
13. Ryan STM-2 (PT20) best guess-other Ryans identical appearing
14. Boeing Stearman 75 with added cowl and wheel pants
15. Beech D-17S STAGGERWING
16. Grumman TBM-3 AVENGER
17. North American HARVARD MK-1 (livery suggests)
18. Grumman TBM-3E AVENGER

I'll defer to the younger guys with better eyesight to get the suffixes more exact. I didn't try to cross-reference to N numbers , USN BuNos or USAF tail numbers. Hopes this helps you fill in the aircraft Profile pages.

Zane, I think you are right about #12. I took look at my Tiger Moth photos and the fixed wing slat and oval cowl fit the aircraft photo in question. So, #12 should be a DeHavilland DH.82 Tiger Moth.
