This aircraft with distinctive call sign and registration served as the Hawker-Siddeley factory works Harrier VTOL demonstrator making flight demos as far away as Japan. I saw it in the Dunsfold, England Harrier works in September, 1970 tour when they were building the initial order there of 50 Harriers for the US Marine Corps. Also winessed that day a test flight at Dunsfold by Duncan Simpson, their Harrier test pilot flying another Harrier. The single works runway dating to WWII used a random programmer of blank shotgun shell blasts as a bird strike prevention device. Very effective, but made one initially think there was a hunter in the woods adjacent.
