According to a 1987 edition of 'FlyPast' magazine, this aircraft went to the Nicaraguan National Guard as GN 121 and in 1963 became N12067 Jul 8, 1963, cancelled. In 1970 it became N1051 and was used for display purposes by Myrick Aviation in the UK. To N751CB, cancelled. N10515, cancelled. To N51KF Mar 10, 1994. On July 2, 1995 the aircraft struck the ground in Malone, New York. The airplane was destroyed, and the pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was part of an airshow at the Malone Airport. The accident pilot was the lead airplane of two F-51's. After the 2nd pass, the airplane was observed to perform a right turn of 90 degrees. This was to be followed by a left turn of 270 degrees, to reverse course for another flyby; however, as the bank increased to near 90 degrees, the nose dropped, and the airplane disappeared from view while rotating to the right. Registration cancelled May 18, 2012. (Courtesy Joe Baugher) |
