  • N1177M @ LAL - Seemed to take off normal, except canopy was open - nothing caught my attention when it took off otherwise.  Crashed shortly after take off from Lakeland Linder Airport (KLAL) in Lakeland Florida on the last day of Sun N Fun April 13, 2008, pilot was killed in crash. I witnessed the crash, submitted photo of aircraft to the FAA at Lakeland after it took off. Plane took off normal, however canopy appeared to be partially open, other witnesses reported actually seeing it go down (I had my back to plane until I was alerted of the cloud of smoke).
