| I owned this aircraft in the 90s based out of DPA in Chicago IL. I sold it to a person in Burlington Wisconsin and within several months the aircraft was destroyed in a thunder/wind storm when the tie down ropes broke. The plane was smashed against a cinder block hanger wall. The plane was then sold to a person that intended to rebuild it, but he never got it done. I think he recently passed away. Last I heard is that a scrapper in Indian had it and the plane has been scrapped. I suspect the log book may still be out there. Would love to see them once again. This was an amazing Cessna 172. It came from the factory with an oversized nose wheel assembly (think it was from a 206). It had an Avcon 180 HP conversion with a constant speed prop. It had a standby horizon driven off a ventury. I really loved this plane, and am so very sad that it is gone. Like losing a relative. |
