N313UT, an Aero Commander 500 B owned and operated by the University of Tennessee crashed while attempting an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from Salisbury Wicomico airport , Maryland at 11:16 AM on March 31, 1978. Principal cause of the accident was introduction of jet fuel into the plane's gasoline tank. Equipment was completely destroyed. The pilot and four passengers, all employees of the University of Tennessee were killed.
