Submitted by Peter Nicholson: It was one of two intact airworthy specimens discovered by US troops at Clark Field, near Manila, capital of the Philippines in 1945 and later evaluated in America before being assigned to the Smithsonian Museum. In September 1952 the aircraft was loaned to the Ontario Air Museum at Claremont, California – later known as Planes of Fame - where it remained on display until March 1963. It was restored to flight status and returned to Japan in 1973 for display at the Arashiyama Museum in Kyoto.
