Crashed Joe Foss Field Airport - KFSD, Sioux Falls, SD 09-DEC-2011. Trailing smoke from an area near the left engine right after takeoff, the aircraft, a Cessna 421C, N421SY, was observed to enter a spin and crash during an attempt to return to the Joe Foss Field Airport (KFSD), Sioux Falls, SD. The aircraft burst into flames and was destroyed by the impact and post-impact fire. The plane intended destination was Rapid City Regional Airport (KRAP), Rapid City, SD.
