 This aircraft was built as C-47A 42-100825 and delivered to the USAAF on 12/17/43, and assigned to the U.S. 8th A.F. on 3/5/344. Subsequently it went to the 9th A.F. Declared surplus on 3/4/46 and delivered in Denmark as OY-DDA. On 8/1/48 it was transferred to the Scandinavian Airlines System. On 11/23/51 the plane was sold to the USA as N9984F to Air Carrier Service Corp. and during Nov 1953 the plane went to Piedmont Aviation, being eventually registered as N50V. On 1/31/62 aircraft went to Charlotte Aircraft, but on 10/19/62 it was delivered to the French Air Force as 100825 with Escadrille 56S. Later recoded as “25” the plane went to the Airborne Troops Museum at St. Mere-Eglise in August 1981 marked as 43-15159, coded D8-Z.  Originally built as 42-23802 for the USAF; to the Norwegian AF (registration?); then to the Norwegian civil registry from 1948 to 1953 as LN-IAP "Halvdan Viking" for SAS; to Royal Danish Air Force as 68-681 Nov 1953, later K-681 as a VIP transport; to the Danish civil registry as OY-DDA in December 1980; to the Mobilium Museum (Dansk Flyvemuseum) from 1990 till 1996 when the museum closed, displayed as OY-DDA “Sven Viking” for Danish Airlines and carrying the additional registration K-681, later removed.; now in Denmark’s Tekniske Museum at Helsingor.
