This Harrier GR.7 crashed into the Mediterrannean Sea alongside HMS Invincible during a night exercise on November 25, 1997. Pilot ejected safely and was rescued. The aircraft was recovered from the sea by navy divers with floatation equipment and taken back on board on November 26, 1997. It was then allocated RAF Maintenance serial 9302M and served as an instructional airframe until being withdrawn from service. It is now preserved at the Dyson Research Establishment in Malmsbury, Wiltshire. |
