http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/455479.html

I just saw this photo on the "Random Aircraft Photos" and viewed it. I noticed that M-YBBJ had no data entry so I decided to correct it. I looked up the prefix on Wikipedia and found it to be the Isle of Man with a footnote saying, "ITU code 'M' is registered to the United Kingdom. The Isle of Man is not a sovereign entity in international law." I googled "isle of man aircraft registry" and found this with the info I needed. However, from reading the short list, it appears there are people from all over the world registering their aircraft there. Another page said, "The Isle of Man Aircraft Register became operational on 1st May 2007. The register is open to all non-commercial aircraft and is expected to be of particular interest to professionally flown corporate operators." Would anyone care to elaborate on why this is?

Connor

re your request of Jun20

I think it basically like the old VR-B and VR-C registrations , offshore banking , tax advantages etc

see

There is an excellent enthusiasts website at

Also in the Master Registration Database the prefix M needs linking to Isle of Man NOT United Kingdom

Hi

The manx reg started back in 2007 with 3 Isle of Man Resident biz jets and has now grown with 333 separate registrations sine it was established

The most recent new additions that have actually visited Isle of Man Ronaldsway are M-GSKY, M-GOLX and M-EAGL.

I find info from the register on this site:
