Who would have thought that a horror movie would be a great aviation film? Last night we watched "Svengoolie" and the film was "The Deadly Mantis," about a giant praying mantis on the loose.

This film had whole lot of shots of the Air Force in action with:
C-47s
EC-121
C-124A
LC-126
F-94As
F-94Cs
F-86D and possibly the normal F-86 (perhaps A or E type - quick shot in dark)
T-33 ejection scene filling in for an F-86 bailout

The Navy was in the action with several shots of F9F Panthers off of three carriers - the Antietam, the Oriskany and the Philippine Sea.

The movie was quite silly, but the planes were great to see.

Must look out for that one for the sheer range of types included, Glenn.

Interestingly, in the UK this afternoon the War of the Worlds (1953 vintage adaptation) was shown. Apart from the travesty of relocating the action from Surrey UK to West Coast USA, it is notable for a clip of the Northrop YB-49 in flight. Stunning stuff and fifty years before the B-2!

Oh yeah, I own "The War of the Worlds" - much better version than the later remade junk. And I loved the YB-49 flights in that one.

I recently watched the movie Entebbe. I will not discuss the film itself, but there was an Airbus A300. They showed the salon and just the work of the crew. Quite interesting, I thought. They also showed the C-130 in fragments, as far as I understood.
